Addressing the Uganda–Denmark Diaspora Summit in Copenhagen on October 9, 2026, Bagonza congratulated the Uganda Diaspora in Denmark (UDiD) upon its official launch.

“An organised diaspora is an empowered diaspora,” he said, urging the association to build partnerships, facilitate businesses, inspire young people and connect diaspora expertise to opportunities in Uganda.

The summit, organised by UDiD in partnership with Civil Connections Community Foundation, runs from October 8 to 10, alongside activities marking Uganda’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

Bagonza emphasised that diaspora contributions extend beyond remittances to investment, innovation, job creation, skills transfer and access to international markets.

He encouraged Ugandans in Denmark to invest in productive enterprises and promote Uganda’s tourism and exports.

“Come home to invest. Come home to build businesses. Come home to mentor. Come home to innovate,” he urged.

He also highlighted government engagement through the Uganda Global Diaspora Engagement Webinar Series and said the National Diaspora Policy was in its final stages.

Bagonza called for the summit to yield practical commitments and lasting partnerships, positioning UDiD as a bridge between Ugandans in Denmark and their homeland.
