In a letter addressed to the President, the Confederation of Uganda Diaspora Associations Limited (CODA), working with the State House Diaspora Unit, expressed gratitude for the appointments and appealed for their formal confirmation at the earliest opportunity.
The associations particularly welcomed the appointments of Ambassador Adonia Ayebare to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Calvin Echodu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs), Hon. Shartsi Kutesa Musherure as Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (Microfinance), and Dr Lawrence Muganga as Minister of State for Internal Affairs.
According to diaspora leaders, the appointments represent a significant milestone for Ugandans living abroad and send a strong message that the diaspora is recognised as an important stakeholder in Uganda's development.

They noted that the nominees bring valuable international experience, global networks, and a deep understanding of the aspirations and challenges facing Ugandans abroad. Their presence in government, the associations said, would help ensure that diaspora perspectives are reflected in national policy discussions and development priorities.

The letter further states that the appointments have generated optimism among diaspora communities worldwide, many of whom view the development as an important step towards strengthening the relationship between Uganda and its citizens living and working abroad.

The associations expressed confidence in President Museveni's leadership and respectfully appealed for the completion of the confirmation process, saying the appointments represent an opportunity to deepen diaspora participation in national development and public service.

With millions of Ugandans living overseas contributing through remittances, investment, entrepreneurship, skills transfer, and international partnerships, diaspora leaders say the appointments signal a growing appreciation of the strategic role the diaspora can play in advancing Uganda's socio-economic development.
