In his remarks, Mr. Bagonza applauded the Ugandan Community in Qatar for sustaining a spirit of unity and collective responsibility, urging them to extend this solidarity toward uplifting one another and contributing to national development.
“When we remain united and deliberate in supporting each other, we build stronger families, stronger communities, and a stronger Uganda,” he said.

Organised by the Ugandan Community in Qatar (UGACOQ) in partnership with the Uganda Embassy in Doha, the Cancer Run is one of the major activities of the just concluded Uganda–Qatar Diaspora Week 2025.

The event aims to raise awareness about cancer, promote early detection, and emphasise the importance of healthy living among Ugandans working and residing in Qatar.

Building on the success of the inaugural edition, this year’s run registered a remarkable increase in participation, with men, women, and children turning up in impressive numbers.

The growing attendance reflects the diaspora’s deepening commitment to health awareness, community engagement, and mutual support.

The day featured a range of activities beyond the main run, including football matches, children’s play sessions, fitness and wellness challenges, and community health discussions.

These added layers helped reinforce the importance of physical activity and collective wellbeing, while also creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere for families.

Leaders from both the Embassy and the diaspora community encouraged Ugandans in Qatar to prioritise regular health screenings, foster unity, and continue championing initiatives that strengthen the well-being and cohesion of the Ugandan community abroad.
