Kasibo was accompanied by Diana Kasibo, a Ugandan based in South Africa, as well as Sherinah Nakito and Reagan Kasibo.

During the meeting, Kasibo commended Uganda’s growing international image but expressed concern over the welfare of vulnerable children, particularly those living on the streets. “Uganda has a very good image abroad, but many visitors also speak about street children. We are worried about their future and want to work with government to improve their welfare,” he said. He also noted that some Ugandans living abroad face social welfare challenges and expressed his team’s readiness to collaborate with the Government to strengthen support systems for Ugandans in the diaspora.

In his remarks, Bagonza reaffirmed the Diaspora Unit’s mandate of connecting, engaging, and empowering Ugandans abroad, emphasising that the Unit was established to build a strong link between Uganda and her people in the diaspora. “Skills transfer is key, and we are working on a structured programme to integrate Ugandans in the diaspora into national development. We are already partnering with IOM to make this possible,” he noted.
Bagonza also pledged to connect the team with relevant line ministries and government agencies to explore areas of collaboration, particularly in social work and child welfare, so that their skills and passion can contribute to building a better Uganda.
The meeting was also attended by the deputy head of the diaspora unit, Henry Wabyona.
