The Head of the Diaspora Unit of State House, Mr Mohammed Bagonza, and the Deputy Head of Mission in Germany, Amb. Danny M. Ssozi, on August 12 met in Berlin and held discussions on issues concerning the diaspora and possible investments back home.
Other issues discussed include the following:
- Diaspora engagement: Encouraging Ugandans living abroad to participate in the country’s development.
- Investment opportunities: Identifying potential investment areas in Uganda and promoting them to the diaspora community.
- Economic growth: Fostering economic growth and development in Uganda through diaspora investments.
- Knowledge transfer: Facilitating the transfer of skills, expertise, and knowledge from the diaspora to Uganda.
- Networking: Building relationships and networks between Ugandans in the diaspora and those in Uganda.
According to the Unit, some possible outcomes of this discussion will be increased investment in key sectors like agriculture, infrastructure, or tourism; Development of diaspora-focused initiatives, such as mentorship programs or entrepreneurship support; Enhanced collaboration between Ugandan businesses and diaspora investors; Improved policies and frameworks to support diaspora engagement and investment, and Increased remittances and financial flows from the diaspora to Uganda.
