State House teams moot ending land issues for Ugandans in Diaspora

With the rampant land fraud incidents involving Ugandans in Diaspora and those supposed to be custodians of their land, various officials from State house recently met to try and find solutions of the same.

The Head Presidential Land and Environmental Task Force, Brig. Lukyamuzi met with the personnel from the office of Physical planning, Dennis Kidega and Counsel Andrew Kibumba from the Diaspora Unit of State House.

The team agreed to work together to save the diaspora with quick response against encroachment on their land and prosecuting those who attempt or carry out the vice.

“We agreed to come up with a draft concept note of having a joint team/ partnership to help the diaspora on land matters,” Kibumba noted after the meeting.

“After agreeing on the concept note, the team from the Presidential Land and Environmental Task Force, and that from the State House Diaspora Unit will meet again to further discuss the synergy between the units aimed at achieving a common goal of serving the diaspora and fulfilling the assignment given to us by His Excellency, the president.”

Several reports indicate that various people living abroad have been defrauded by relatives and friends who misappropriate money sent to buy land or construct houses for them.

In other cases, the custodians of the land sell it off without the consent of those in the diaspora.
